Indoor has been a lot of fun so far.  You've played great through the Indoor League games and our combined Falcons/Blitz team is coming together very nicely in the Winter Cup at Utah Sports Lodge.  Keep improving each day like we have so far and we'll do great!

Happy Turkey Day!

I finally have all of the Indoor games entered on the team calendar. Take a look and make sure you get them on your schedules. You can take a look at USL's schedule online here (USL Schedule). The rest of our games are on Thursday nights except for one Friday game. We had a bye last week and then no game this week due to Thanksgiving. Don't get too rusty with the two weeks, almost three, off :)

Great Season!

We had some ups and downs this Fall but overall I think we had a great season. I know we had our sights set a little higher, but I'm proud of the way we responded to challenges as a team and as individuals this season. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Two Games to Go!

Just two games left. It's been a good season and I've seen great improvement over the last two weeks. Let's keep our undefeated home streak going for these last two games and finish strong!!

Excellent Game!

Excellent game last night Falcons!  That was the type of performance that I knew you were capable of.  Great passing, great teamwork, better communication, better midfield transitions, good defensive pressure, everything!  You dominated the entire game.  If it weren't for getting a little too comfortable in the last minute of the game (which was 1 minute into extra time) it would have been 4-0 instead of 4-1. Special recognition to both Rafa and Abdi who stepped into new positions without any practice time and completely dominated ... well done. Enjoy the win boys ... but don't get too comfortable we play the top team in the division tomorrow. Let's come ready to battle!

Rocky Start

Well Falcons we're off to a bit of a rocky start.  A nice win for our first game, but followed by 2 tough losses.  We've had great moments and excellent passing in each game with lots of opportunities.  We did a much better job finishing those chances on Saturday and things are looking better.  Now we just need to work on making quicker defensive and offensive transitions and staying  focused throughout the whole game so we don't give our opponents easy opportunities to score.

I know we have much greater potential than we've realized these first 3 games.  Let's start playing up to that potential!  See you on Thursday at our next game!

UNDEFEATED!!

That's right NO ONE beat the Razzia Falcons in the Mayor's Cup!  Great tournament boys.  I'm extremely proud of the way we played.  It's unfortunate that the group standings didn't reflect how well we played.  Too bad we couldn't get just one more goal in one of those games to break those ties and put us into the finals.  The coach from Fusion texted me today after beating Forza in the final 2-1 and told me we were their toughest challenge throughout the tournament!

Be proud of the way you played and take everything you can from the experience so we can dominate this fall in D2!

Mayor's Cup Details

Mayor's Cup starts tomorrow! There weren't enough teams for a Gold bracket so we are in the Premier bracket. There aren't, however, any Premier teams in the group.  This tournament will certainly put us to the test!  Any way here are the details.

Fall Schedule is Posted

The 2012 Fall Schedule is posted.  There may be a few changes between now and the start of the season as all the teams coordinate their schedules, fields, and other conflicts.  There is a link on the left hand side-bar or you can click here (Fall Schedule).

Mayor's cup schedules should be released by Thursday.  I'll post that as soon as it's available.

On to the SEMIS!!

Great Tournament so far Falcons.  I'm VERY pleased with the way we've been playing.  Let's step it up a notch tomorrow morning and push through to the FINALS!

Semi: we play at 9:30 am on Trailside #2 (lower field), be there at 8:45 am to warmup.  We are the HOME TEAM so wear RED (socks, shorts, jersey).  But bring your whites because we are planning to WIN ... right?  A win puts us in the finals at 3:00 pm and we may be the away team and need our white jerseys.

We play Firebirds FFC (coach Zunguze) in the semi.  They are a D1 team.  They tied Wasatch Thunder in the Spring season.  They are a good team ... but WE CAN WIN if we play as a TEAM. Rest up and come ready to play!

All of our games are at Trailside Park either field 1 or 2 (see attached).  For driving directions from WVC to Trailside park follow this link. 

Remember arrive to every game 45 min early to warm-up and check in.  We are the Away team for each game so wear white socks, red shorts, white jersey.  Bring your Red Jersey and Red socks in case there is a conflict.  Make sure you bring your shin guards or you can't play.  

Plan your travel carefully.  Thursday's game will have us traveling during rush hour so take that into account.

Time's UP!

My one month off is officially over!  We start regular Monday and Thursday practices this week with practice at Bennion JH, Monday July 9th from 6:30-8:00.  Wear cleats and shinguards, bring a ball and plenty of water.  Also bring your iSoccer tracking sheet from the past month to turn in to me.

We will practice Monday at Bennion, but future practices will be moving to allow the Bennion fields to recover for Fall season.  See you on the field!

Also, we received our official acceptance email ... we are officially in the Park City Extreme cup Aug 2-4.

Great Spring Season!

Falcons ... I couldn't be more proud of you this season.  After a tough 2-7-2 season last Fall you guys have been amazing this Spring.  You completely reversed last season's record ending this Spring 7-2-2.  While it wasn't perfect and we had our ups and downs, you guys really stepped up and handled the challenges well and kept playing together as a team.  Thanks for a great season.  It's been a lot of fun coaching you this past year.

Who would have thought?

I was excited for this Spring season and felt like we'd really improved and were going to do better than last fall ... but I never would have guessed that we'd go from the bottom of the pile to the TOP!  I've really been impressed with the changes everyone has made.  Let's keep the momentum, the energy, team play, and positive attitudes going and see how far we can go.

Thank you everyone for your hard work and dedication.  I know this past week has been busy with 3 games in just 5 days, and another just 3 days away.

That's how you start the season!

What an incredible way to start the Spring Season!  I couldn't have asked for anything more from the team today.  The boys all played excellent!  They've come so far from where we were last fall.  Better passing, better teamwork, better energy, taking shots, pressing the ball ... everything was improved!  

GREAT game Falcons!  I'm excited that games have begun and can't wait to see how you guys do this Spring! See you Monday at practice.

Spring Schedule is Out!

The Spring 2012 schedule has been posted on the UYSA website.  The link (to the left) on the webpage is updated.  I will have the calendar updated shortly.  Please beware that the schedule is likely to have a few changes over the next couple of weeks as teams adjust things due to conflicts.  For example our first game is Thurs April 5th during Easter break for Granite School District.  I will be rescheduling that one.

Loved the Outdoor Friendly!

It was a LOT of fun to see you guys play outdoors again!  I loved seeing the changes in the way we are playing that have come about from playing futsal.  Interior passing, checking to the ball, movement off the ball, passing after 1-3 touches, everything looked better.  I'm really looking forward to Spring season!

A good day for Zach's

Excellent games from both teams yesterday!  Both Teams won and I was very impressed with the level of play: great passing, great teamwork, improved movement off  the ball to get open and create plays, and great play from our keepers.  Very well done by both teams.  Special congratulations to Zach Boynton for 3 of the 5 goals for Team 2 in his very first futsal game, and for Zach Pfeil who got his first 2 futsal goals (the second goal was spectacular).  It was a good day for Zach's apparently :-)

Winter FUTSAL!

Winter Futsal has begun! Team 1 played their first game Tuesday and after a rocky first half, down 0-1, scored 2 goals in the first 2 minutes of the second half.  Second half was much better and we finished things off with a win, 4-3.  It's going to be fun having almost everyone playing this session.  Game times for Team 1 (RF1) and Team 2 (RF2) have been added to the calendar (see below).  See you next Tuesday!

Happy New YEAR!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years.  To kick off 2012 we're going to have a team party on Jan 6.  I promised TACOS at the end of fall season so we're going to have Tacos and Futsal.  Mindy is getting everything organized and will send out an email. At the party we'll go over details about the upcoming Winter Futsal season.  Here's the basics on the party ... look for Mindy's emails for details:
